You signed up to bring 30 cupcakes to the bake sale. Three weeks later, you're at work when your kid texts you from the school door. ParentDesk's commitments tracker makes sure that never happens.
Start tracking for freeWhen you sign the permission slip or say "yes" to bringing supplies, log it in 10 seconds. What, when, for which child.
Upcoming commitments surface in your dashboard before the deadline. No more scanning old emails to remember what you signed up for.
Check off commitments when you've handled them. Your list stays clean and you always know what's still outstanding.
A school commitment is anything you've agreed to provide, do, or show up for — separate from a calendar event. It's the things that live in your head until they don't.
Why parents forget
You sign up three weeks before the event. It goes in a newsletter you won't see again. You're juggling two other kids' schedules, work, and everything else. The commitment is real — but it has no mechanism to resurface at the right time.
ParentDesk's commitments tracker is that mechanism. Log it once, and it shows up in your dashboard before the deadline.
Log the commitment
When you say yes to something — a signup sheet, a class email, a spoken agreement — open ParentDesk and log it. Add what you need to bring or do, which child it's for, and the date.
It appears in your dashboard
Your upcoming commitments appear in the daily dashboard alongside your children's activities and tasks. As the date approaches, the commitment stays visible.
Check it off when done
Once you've bought the supplies, dropped off the donation, or showed up to volunteer — mark it done. It moves out of your active list and into history.
Can I import a commitment from a photo or screenshot?
Yes. Use the Import button on the Commitments page to photograph or screenshot a SignUpGenius confirmation, signup sheet, or any notice of what you've signed up for. ParentDesk extracts the commitment details automatically. Free plan users get 3 photo imports per month shared with calendar photo imports; Family and Family+ plans include unlimited imports.
How is a commitment different from a calendar event?
A calendar event is something you attend. A commitment is something you supply or do in preparation for an event. "School Spring Fair" is a calendar event. "Bring 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies" is a commitment. ParentDesk tracks both separately because they need different follow-up.
Can I track commitments for different children separately?
Yes. Each commitment is linked to a specific child, so you can quickly filter to see only commitments for Emma vs. commitments for Jake.
Do I need to remember to check the app before each event?
Upcoming commitments appear in your dashboard automatically. You'll see them alongside today's activities and tasks, so they're part of your natural daily review.
What if I share the app with my co-parent?
On the Family+ plan, both parents see the same commitments list in real time. If one parent logs a commitment, the other sees it immediately — no more duplicate volunteering or conflicting schedules.
